Volunteer Mentoring Programme
This programme aims to assist young people to stay in secondary school by providing the young person with a trained mentor who acts as a positive role model. The mentors are trained and supported by a co-ordinator employed by KDYS. The project is delivered in two secondary schools in Tralee and will expand under KDYS in September 2009 to Killorglin.
Incredible Years
The Incredible Years Programme is designed to prevent and treat emotional and behavioural difficulties in children aged 3 – 10years. The programme was developed in the University of Washington in Seattle by Dr. Barolyn Webster-Stratton. The Incredible Years series contains three separate training programmes for parents, teachers and children. Whilst each programme has been designed as a stand-alone intervention, taken together, they provide a cohesive and uniform strategy to address and eliminate behavioural difficulties in children.
