LEADER/ Rural Development Programme (RDP)
2007 - 2013
The new LEADER/ Rural Development Programme (RDP) commenced in February 2009. Individuals, businesses and community groups are all eligible to apply. Funding through the Rural Development Programme 2007 – 2013 will be allocated to innovative projects under the following measures:
- On – farm diversification into non agricultural activities
- Support for business creation and development
- Encouragement of tourism activities
- Basic services for the economy and rural population
- Village renewal and development
- Conservation and upgrading of rural heritage
- Training and information
LEADER / RDP Grant Rates & Ceilings
As a general rule the following maximum rates and ceilings apply. However there are certain restrictions - your Development Officer will inform you if they apply to your project. In addition the Board has the final say on grant rates and ceilings and can reduce them if they deem it to be appropriate.
Capital Assistance Grants
Individuals, sole traders and companies 50% to a max of €150,000
Community groups / non-profit companies 75% to a max of €150,000
** In exceptional circumstances and subject to prior approval by the Department, community groups undertaking flagship projects may receive higher ceilings
Technical Assistance (Feasibility Studies/ Development Plans)
Individuals, sole traders and companies 75% to a max of €30,000
Community groups / non-profit companies 90% to a max of €30,000
Training Grants
Training Courses 100% to a max of €150,000
Capital Equipment (Community) 75% to a max of €150,000
Capital Equipment (private) 50% to a max of €150,000
Geographic Area Covered
Please note that under the new programme, projects undertaken in the Tralee UDC area are no longer eligible.
